Rose Perez is a professional
artist residing on the Oregon coast in Pacific City. Painting primarily
in Oils, Rose also has knowledge in acrylics, watercolors and mixed media.
Using the beauty of the Oregon coast as her favorite subject matter, Rose's
specialty is seascapes; marine art, open ocean scenes along the coastline,
lighthouses, etc.
Rose works on stretched linen canvas.
The paintings are done with fine detail and true accuracy of the ocean
movements. Rose spends considerable time studying the pacific ocean and
has come to understand the different moods, color and light depending on
the time of day and weather conditions. Rose's work has been shown in many
fine Art Galleries on the Oregon coast and also in Florida. Her work has
been sold to many private collectors and Corporate firms.
Many of her works selected by Jury
became Best of Shows in exhibits in Oregon and also in Florida.
Rose is a Charter member to the
National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C..
The Museum houses an active file
of her works, exhibitions, photos and copyrights of all her past and present
paintings.
In 1984 Rose organized the National
League of American Pen Women, and opened the Charter for the Oregon Coast.
This is a National Organization with headquarters in Washington D.C.
She is also former Oregon State President of the League.
Rose is a signature member of the
American Society of Marine Artists who are a national organization founded
on the east coast in 1978. It's objective is to recognize and promote
marine art and maritime history and to bring the beauty of both the east
and west coast to the general public to enjoy.
Rose is co-founder of the Nestucca
Valley Artisans, a local group of artists sponsoring charities and art
appreciation in her community of Pacific City Oregon.
One of Rose's painting was selected
for exhibit at the Ventura County Maritime Museum at Channel Islands Harbor
(California) in August 2000. The painting won an award during the
exhibit.
Two paintings were juried into the
7th annual Maritime Art Exhibit at Coos Bay Art Museum (Oregon) in July
2000. The museum only considers the best of the best on the west
coast for jury. Both paintings were sold at the opening of the show.
In June 2001, Rose was again juried into the 8th Annual Maritime Exhibit.
She won the esteemed "People's Choice" award for her painting "After the
Storm" (available for sale at Pacific City Gallery). Another oil
called "Evening Solitude" was also juried into the show.
Rose has been painting for 30 years
having began painting in 1972 while her husband was stationed at Mt. Hebo
AFB, a small Radar Site on the Oregon Coast. She signed up for her first
oil painting lessons in the local Community College.
After two years in Oregon, the family
transferred to Tampa Florida where she continued to study at Hillsboro
Community College. She became an active member and then president of The
Tampa Realistic Association and the Florida Fine Arts Institute. Many of
her works selected by Jury became Best of Shows in exhibits throughout
the State of Florida.
In 1976 the family returned to Oregon
and Rose began teaching art classes at Tillamook County's Bay City Campus,
then under the direction of Clatsop Community College. Many of her former
students have gone on to be professional artists in their own right.
Rose remains in Pacific City and
continues to delight her many collectors with masterpieces of the Oregon
Coast.
